TOUR: AJGA

COURSE/STATE: Glenmoor GC, UT

YARDAGE: 6,705

PAR: 72

SCORE: 73

FINISH: 13

FIELD: 51

NOTES: I came out of the gates slow being 4 over through 4. I was able to whittle my way back to a 73, missing a few short putts in the process. 1-under got into a playoff. All my bogeys were made in the first four holes. As my ball striking began to warm up, I made more birdies.

July 25-26, 2024

TOURNAMENT: The Spring Showcase

TOUR: RMJT

COURSE/STATE: The Home Course, WA

YARDAGE: 6,584

PAR: 72

SCORE: 73-66

FINISH: 1

FIELD: 40

NOTES: The first day I struggled to convert on birdie putts in the 10-15 foot range. It was hard to stay patient and stick to my process when I felt like I couldn’t buy a putt. I was in a good position going into day two, only three back of the lead. I started the second round off hot, holing out from 94 yards on the second hole and then birdieing three, five, seven, and nine, shooting 30 on the front. With a 3-putt bogey and a lone birdie on the back nine, I shot an even 36 to fire my lowest round in tournament golf, 66.

July 23-24, 2024

TOURNAMENT: The WJGA Cup

TOUR: WJGA

COURSE/STATE: Cedars at Dungeness, WA

YARDAGE: 6,605

PAR: 72

SCORE: 70-73

FINISH: 8

FIELD: 94

NOTES: The WJGA Cup was one of my best ball-striking days yet. I hit 17/18 greens and 13/14 fairways. After I shot 70, I looked back on all of the strokes that I left out there, most of them being short putts. I had missed about 5-6 birdie putts inside of ten feet. I felt like I could have been 6 under. It helped me realize that golf isn’t a game of perfect. The second day I started slow, bogeying my second hole and not being able to get anything going. With a second round of 73, I shot (-1) for the tournament, finishing in 8th place. It is another tournament I am thrilled with, and although it could have been better I am proud of the golf I have been playing recently.

July 20-21, 2024

TOURNAMENT: Notah Begay Regional Final

TOUR: Notah Begay

COURSE/STATE: Loomis Trails, WA

YARDAGE: 6,757

PAR: 72

SCORE: 74-69

FINISH: 6

FIELD: 65

NOTES: I was pleased by my ability to come back after bogeying my first three holes. On the back nine I had 5 birdies and 4 bogeys. The second day was a much more steady round, carding two bogeys and 5 birdies, I was able to capatilize on my putts inside 20 feet—wedges and length off the tee. With the greens and fairways being so fast and firm I am happy with my course management and ball striking. Going into my next tournament this week, I will try to do the same thing, yet focusing on minimizing bogeys. Sadly, I missed playing in the National Championship by a stroke after making bogey on 18. Although it hurts, it 100% has helped me mature, and deal with the pain of being so close to success.

July 15-16, 2024

TOURNAMENT: WA District #1 Championship

TOUR: WJGA

COURSE/STATE: North Bellingham, WA

YARDAGE: 6,207

PAR: 72

SCORE: 72-69

FINISH: 3

FIELD: 23

NOTES: My district championship tournament went well and qualified me for The WA State Championship. I am most proud that I was able to have a round under par where I hit two balls out of bounds. My iron game was on point but my driver was wayward. I gained most of my strokes on the putting green, sinking multiple putts outside of 15 feet. I am excited and prepared for my next tournament this weekend. I will be working on tightening up my driver and chipping around the green.

July 1, 2024

TOURNAMENT: Palouse Ridge Qualifier

TOUR: AJGA

COURSE/STATE: Palouse Ridge, WA

YARDAGE: 7,031

PAR: 72

SCORE: 77

FINISH: 10

FIELD: 47

NOTES: Unfortunately, I missed qualifying by one stroke. I got off to a slow start, and found myself trying to force shots to make up ground where I shouldn’t have. With the heavy winds, this was a strategy that backfired and I made a few costly mistakes coming in. I’ve been working on staying patient throughout the entire round, and this event was a good reminder of just how costly it can be to get ahead of myself and play too aggressively. I did have several birdie opportunities that I wasn't able to convert, so I’m also planning to work on my short game, mainly chipping and putting from within 15-feet before my next event.

June 24, 2024

TOURNAMENT: WA State District #1 Qualifier

TOUR: WJGA

COURSE/STATE: Sudden Valley, WA

YARDAGE: 6,144

PAR: 72

SCORE: 69

FINISH: 1

FIELD: 47

NOTES: Sudden Valley was guarded by tight fairways lined with trees. I had a rough start, going two over through the first three holes. I took a more conservative approach by hitting mainly irons off the tee. It seemed to pay off as I made birdie on 6 and eagle on 7, followed by an unfortunate 3-putt bogey on 8 to finish the front 9 at even par. On the back nine the putter got hot, rolling in putts left and right I made birdie on 11,12,13 and 14, getting me to -4 on the day. An unlucky break lead to a bogey on 16, but that's golf. I am super pleased of the way I struck the ball, and held my calm when I was playing well. It is nice to know what it feels like to go low. Happy to have my first tournament round under par this summer.

June 22, 2024

TOURNAMENT: The Joel Dahmen Invitational

TOUR: WJGA

COURSE/STATE: Lakeview GC, WA

YARDAGE: 6,768

PAR: 72

SCORE: 75-72

FINISH: 9

FIELD: 57

NOTES:The Joel Dahmen invitational was a marathon for me. My first one-day, 36 hole event. I started off slow going 3 over through 4 and finishing my first nine with a +4, 40. The back nine I battled back making two birdies on 11 and 12, followed by an unfortunate double bogey. I made a final birdie on hole 15, finishing with a 35, -1. My second round loosened me up, as I looked for opportunity to gain strokes on my last round. I shot 34 on the front nine, and 38 on the back. I was able to capatilize on my distance and wedges play, setting me up for close birdie looks. When looking back on the event, I could have improved on my driver and I struggled with consistency. I hit one ball in the hazard and a few in unfortunate spots, leading to bogeys. I am proud of my ability to be able to battle back after a slow start.

June 10, 2024

TOURNAMENT: The U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifier

TOUR: USGA

COURSE/STATE: The Eugene CC, OR

YARDAGE: 6,907

PAR: 72

SCORE: 76

FINISH: 6

FIELD: 65

NOTES: With tall trees and firm greens, The Eugene Country Club was a tough course for me. I am really happy with my result given that it was my first tournament of the summer. A few wayward putts led me to missing out on being in a playoff for the alternate spot by one stroke. It was disappointing, yet the bigger picture is much more positive. For example, my ball striking felt better and left me with some good opportunities for birdie.

June 7, 2024

TOURNAMENT: The Optimist Qualifier

TOUR: Optimist Tour

COURSE/STATE: Purple Sage GC, OR

YARDAGE: 6,753

PAR: 71

SCORE: 75

FINISH: 13

FIELD: 22

NOTES: The Optimist qualifier was held on fun course, both tight and with fast greens. It made me tap into the more conservative areas of my game. This tournament helped me realize that dialing back and not always hitting driver is important. When hitting three-wood or three-hybrid, my intentions were to have a comfortable yardage on my approach shot. This mentality not only opened doors to birdies but helped mitigate bogeys. I played poorly on the front nine still trying to get used to the morning dew. Two three-putts and some missed greens led to a 40. On the back I had a different mentality. I wanted to go as low as possible. With two birdies in a row on 10 and 11, I was back in the running. Unfortunately I made a poor, uncommitted swing on the 18th tee box, leading to a double bogey.

May 22, 2024

TOURNAMENT: The Kingswood Invitational

TOUR: NA

COURSE/STATE: Gillette Ridge, CT

YARDAGE: 6,500

PAR: 72

SCORE: 73

FINISH: 10

FIELD: 135

NOTES: Only being a one day, 18-hole tournament, the KIT served as a way to rid myself of any pre-summer tournament anxiety. I got off to a slow start and shot a 38 on the front followed by a one-under 35 on the back. I was happy with my ability to play conservative golf by not always takng on the pin. In greenlight scenarios however, I was able to take advantage, leading to vital birdies.

May 13, 2024

TOURNAMENT: The U.S. Open Qualifier

TOUR: USGA

COURSE/STATE: The Albany CC

YARDAGE: 6,923

PAR: 72

SCORE: 81

FINISH: 13

FIELD: 72

NOTES: To some, the number I shot in Albany would be a disappointing score. However, given that it was a very difficult course with a highly competitive field of players much older than me, I am happy I came back from my 43 on the front to post a 38 on the back. I had a small amount of time to prepare for the tournament because I was in school, but I am happy I gained more competitive experience with this event.

May 11-12, 2024

TOURNAMENT: The Independent International Invitational

TOUR: Notah Begay

COURSE/STATE: Crumpin-Fox GC, MA

YARDAGE: 6,730

PAR: 72

SCORE: 73-77

FINISH: 8

FIELD: 72

NOTES: During the first day of the tournament I played well early, kick-starting my day and building confidence. Unfortunately, the second round got the best of me and I wasn't able to get anything going. I am really happy with my placement in such a competitive field of players. What I am most proud of is how I managed my emotions throughout the tournament. When I hit a bad shot I was able to immediately switch mindsets towards my next shot. This tournament helps me gain momentum going into my summer schedule.

2023

September 9, 2023

TOURNAMENT: Connecticut Fall Open

TOUR: Hurricane

COURSE/STATE: Tunxis CC, CT

YARDAGE: 6,151

PAR: 70

SCORE: 79-WS

FINISH: 6

FIELD: 12

NOTES: This two-day event turned into a single-day event as the second day got rained out. I wasn’t happy with the way I played, as I practiced very little at school prior to the tournament. I am also a soccer player for the varsity team, and found it hard to practice during the season.

August 22-23, 2023

TOURNAMENT: Teen Series at Wine Valley

TOUR: U.S. Kids

COURSE/STATE: Wine Valley, WA

YARDAGE: 6,870

PAR: 72

SCORE: 75-77

FINISH: 13

FIELD: 33

NOTES: I played well in this tournament; the course was difficult, and the field was solid. I was gaining confidence with my putter and my wedges were on fire, creating a lot of good birdies. It was a good way to end the summer; knowing I could do better, yet happy about where I stood and what I had accomplished in my first year of competitive golf.

August 8-10, 2023

TOURNAMENT: Washington State Championship

TOUR: WJGA

COURSE/STATE: Moses Lake, WA

YARDAGE: 6,633-6,860

PAR: 72

SCORE: 73-79

FINISH: 21 (MC)

FIELD: 51

NOTES: This was the tournament that had been in the back of my head the whole summer. Just like every other tournament, I wanted nothing more than to play well. This anticipation set anxiety and pressure upon me that at the time I might have been oblivious to. My practice round turned into walking the course when a storm rolled in, and it led to a sense of insecurity off the first tee. I played well the first day, still leaving some strokes out there due to poor putting. The second day was a series of unfortunate events, not playing my best and receiving some unlucky breaks. What I learned from this tournament was to stay in the moment and not let the anticipation of the future get to you. Instead, I need to stay focused and do what I can to prepare.

July 17-18, 2023

TOURNAMENT: Washington State District #1 Championship

TOUR: WJGA

COURSE/STATE: Avalon GC, WA

YARDAGE: 6,538

PAR: 72

SCORE: 75-79

FINISH: 1

FIELD: 13

NOTES: This tournament is a lesson in confidence for me going forward with my game. The course was tight and demanding off the tee. I fought through the hard holes, making many good pars and escaping with little birdies. However, I was very proud with my iron game, attacking many pins that others didn’t. The field was talented, including the Washington State champion who placed 4th. My win here reminds me that I can play with the best. Despsite having a small golf resume, I can compete with top players. Sometimes I struggle with confidence. Because I am a new competitor in this arena, I sometimes get a sense that "imposter syndrome" can loom over me. But when I focus on the controllable aspects of my game, I can push through and shoot solid scores. I am eager to better next season and I am always looking for ways to improve.

July 11-12, 2023

TOURNAMENT: USGA Amateur Qulaifier

TOUR: USGA

FINISH: 21

FIELD: 78

NOTES: This tournament is a lesson in confidence for me going forward with my game. The course was tight and demanding off the tee. June 19, 2023

TOURNAMENT: WA State District Qualifier

TOUR: WJGA

COURSE/STATE: Camaloch, WA

YARDAGE: 5,966

PAR: 72

SCORE: 77

FINISH: 1

FIELD: 17

NOTES: This was the first tournament I had played in where I started to feel a sense of confidence. I had nothing to lose and so I felt free to commit to shots. Although the rainy conditions persisted, so did my belief and it helped me go on to win.

March 18-19, 2023

TOURNAMENT: FCG WA State Championship

TOUR: FCG

COURSE/STATE: Chambers Bay, WA

YARDAGE: 7,209

PAR: 72

SCORE: 89-92

FINISH: 60

FIELD: 67

NOTES: This was my first golf tournament ever. I was incredibly nervous and was quickly realizing that competitive golf is a whole new sport. I played Chambers Bay the day before with a caddie for my practice round and shot 78. I was obviously much more calm. To me, this tournament stands as a learning tool, making me want to develop both my physical game and my mental fortitude while on the course.
